The sauna used to be your grandfather’s. Now it’s the room where the week gets reset: friends, heat, silence, a cold plunge, a long exhale. We make one thing for that room, and we make it properly.
The ritual
Hot. Cold. Again.
Twenty minutes in the heat. Two in the cold. Sit with it, then go back in. The hat is there so the heat works on your body, not your head, and you come out of the room on your own terms.
Air at head height runs hotter than the bench. Felt holds a layer of still air around your head so you settle in instead of counting down.
Plunge, shower, sea, whatever you have. The hat comes with you. Wool copes with water, and the loop hangs it to dry.
Three rounds is a session. A hat you sweat in every week becomes yours fast, which is why you can put your initials on it.

Description
Material & care
- 100% merino wool felt, undyed. Woven side label, tonal front embroidery.
- Made for heat: sauna, steam room, banya, and the cold plunge after.
- Rinse in cool water after use, press out, reshape, hang from the loop to dry. No machine, no direct sun, no radiator.
- One size. Fits most adult heads, 54 to 60 cm.
Monogram
Initials are embroidered in the studio before dispatch, in warm taupe thread that reads tonal against the felt, not loud. Up to four characters, letters or numbers. Two or three letters are set with points.
Monogramming adds two to three working days, and a monogrammed hat is made for you, so it’s exchangeable for a fault but not returnable for a change of mind.

Orders over $50 ship free. Below that, shipping is calculated at checkout by destination. Every price includes duties and taxes to your door, so there is nothing to pay on delivery. Tracked delivery, dispatched within two working days, or four to five with a monogram.

Choose how many and send it to us. From a hundred hats the run is made for you, in your colour, with your logo. Nothing is charged here. We confirm the price and lead time with you, then invoice.

Free shipping over $50
Orders of $50 or more ship free anywhere we deliver. Under $50, shipping is calculated at checkout by destination, and a pair or a monogrammed hat clears the line on its own.
Duties and taxes included
We ship duties paid. Import duties and local taxes are built into the price at checkout, so there is nothing to pay the courier and no surprise at the door.
When it leaves
Plain hats are dispatched within two working days. Monogrammed hats take four to five, because the initials are stitched to order in the studio. You get a tracking link by email the moment it ships.

Venue and wholesale orders
Shipped by pallet or courier depending on size, quoted with the order. Indonesian venues are usually delivered by hand.

Thirty days to decide. Keep it clean and unworn and we take it back, no questions.
The rule
Any unworn, unmonogrammed hat can come back within 30 days of delivery for a full refund of the hat. Keep the label on and the loop unstretched.
Monogrammed hats
A hat with your initials on it was made for you, so we can’t resell it. Monogrammed hats are exchanged for faults only. Check your spelling before you press send. We double check it in the studio too.
Faults
If a seam, the loop or the embroidery fails in normal sauna use within a year, send us a photo and we replace it. Felt shrinking from a hot wash or a radiator is not a fault, see the care guide.
How to return
Return shipping
Faults and our mistakes: we pay. Change of mind: you pay the return postage, and we refund the hat in full.
Venue orders
Wholesale orders are not returnable for change of mind. Faulty units are replaced from the next dispatch.

Felted wool is tougher than it looks. Treat it like a good towel, not a jumper.
After every session
Rinse in cool water, press the water out between your hands, reshape the crown, and hang it from the loop. It dries in a few hours in the shade. Never wring it.
Wet is fine
Some people dip the hat before going in: a wet hat keeps the head even cooler. Wool holds water without harm. What it doesn’t like is heat while drying.
Three things that shrink felt
Smells
Wool resists smell on its own. If it needs more than a rinse, a drop of wool wash or mild shampoo in cool water, then rinse clean.
Marks
Dab, don’t rub. Oils from hair and skin lift with mild soap. The undyed felt will mellow in tone over time, which is the point.
Between seasons
Dry it fully, then store it loose, not crushed under things. A crown that’s been flattened comes back with steam and your hand.
The monogram
The thread is colourfast and stitched through the felt. It takes the same care as the hat.

About
Hot, then cold.
Lumi is the Finnish word for snow. In the country that gave the world the sauna, the heat was never the whole ritual. You sit until you can’t, then you walk out into the cold, and the cold is what makes the heat worth it.
Lumora started with a simple frustration. Sessions ended early, not because the body was done but because the head was. Ears burning, hair fried, a headache waiting at the door. The old answer, worn in banyas and Finnish saunas for generations, is a felted wool hat. It looks odd the first time. It works the first time too.
We wanted to make one object and make it properly. Undyed merino felt, because the wool’s own lanolin handles steam and cold water better than anything treated. Hand felted and shaped over a form, so the bell sits low over the ears without a seam to catch the heat. A loop at the crown, because a hat that dries well is a hat that lasts. Tonal embroidery, so it reads as a hat rather than a logo.
